The New iPhone Web Applications
Aug 19th
The New iPhone Web Applications
The new iPhone, works as a means to surfing the net, checking e-mail messages, and conducting daily business. It is basically a small computer in your pocket. You can have your favorite icons on the screen just as you would a desk top. And you can have as many as eight browser pages open at once.
However, the web applications of the iPhone make it worth every penny. Just what can you do with it on the web? You can do plenty.
First off, the applications allow a savings of time. It may take some time to adapt to this technology, as some applications will be new to you. One problem noted in many media outlets is the iPhone only works with an Apple Program called Safari. Once, Safari could only be used on Apple Computers, which was a minor headache for traditional PC buyers. On a personal note, I have an iPhone and Safari works great. Having access to the web at any time makes life and doing business a lot easier.
What are the other pluses? For any applications, pictures can be paramount in relaying your messages. The iPhone allows use of multiple kinds of images, including Gif and JPG. Up to 20,000 images can be downloaded to the 16 GB version if synced with iTunes. If you like watching videos online, you may doubt that you would be able to watch these videos. Actually, YouTube is built in to the basic iPhone, allowing for videos to be played, bookmarked, and even to find the most popular. Many other major web applications can be used, including Adobe Reader.
The main sell point of the iPhone is the touch screen, which again saves time as web applications can be used on the go. The touch screen can be different for new users, but it’s as simple to move through the applications as using a mouse on a desktop computer.
With its web applications iPhone stands out as a leading product from a top manufacturer. Ten years ago, few would have known an item the size of a cell phone would have the power of a computer, that can handle business documents, check emails, and download hundreds pictures online.
Other manufacturers like are developing different versions of hardware that will compete with the iPhone. But the portability and user friendly web applications make this a winner. The iPhone stands out as a way to save your time, and build your business on the go.

My Top 10 Iphone Applications
Jul 31st
My Top 10 Iphone Applications
I’m sure most of you have heard about Apple’s new iPhone and all the different functionality it has to offer, so I’ll spare you the details. What I will share with you are the top ten applications that I enjoy and use on a daily basis.
1. ZenBe Lists – This is a to-do-list application that lets you itemize your daily tasks. The app features a minimalist green user interface, extremely functional features, and a free price tag. I find ZenBe Lists to be above and beyond other to-do-list applications, which is why I chose it as part of my everyday apps.
2. NetNewsWire – Sorting through my feed list is much more efficient on the iPhone as opposed to on the web. That’s where NetNewsWire is so helpful; this application is an RSS reader just like its parent Newsgator only for the iPhone. So if you’re one to enjoy news feeds then make sure you review NetNewsWire.
3. Twinkle – This is a great Twitter application. If you’re asking yourself what a twitter is, don’t feel too bad. Twitter is a website that allows you to blast out short updates about your daily life (“I’m at home on Appcraver looking at this new game, and then I’m going to the market”) to your friends and people that want to track you. So what’s so special about Twinkle? Well the main differentiator is that it knows your location. It taps into the iPhone GPS and adds your current location to all of your tweets! You can also keep track of nearby twinkles.
4. Facebook - It seems nowadays everyone is obsessed with checking their Facebook; well at least I am. This application makes it easier; it gives you one touch access to all of your friends, your profile and inbox. You can even ping anybody who is online and start chatting instantly. The best part is you have immediate access to your Facebook inbox and you don’t have to login every time. Oh and did I mention it’s free.
5. Shazam – This totally free application is a life saver! Have you ever heard a song that you loved so much, but didn’t know the name of it or who the artist was? Well with this application you can solve that problem once and forever. All you do is hold the iPhone up to the music that’s playing and hit the “Tag Now” button. Shazam does the rest! A couple seconds later it will return the name of the artist, record cover and name of the song right to your iPhone.
6. Pandora – This next application is great for parties or whenever you want music playing but don’t want to assume control of the songs. All you have to do is type the name of a band, and Pandora will create a custom “radio station” around that band, which includes songs from the band itself, as well as songs that “sound like” that artist. Pandora is an amazing application for music discovery, pick a channel and let Pandora be the DJ.
7. Bloomberg – Finally a finance application that I can use to constantly stay up-to-date on markets around the world. Bloomberg offers news, stock quotes, company descriptions, top performers, price charts, market trend analysis and more. Although painful at times, I enjoy following my list of stocks. Your probably wondering what this type of app costs, well it’s free.
8. AOL Instant Messenger - AIM for the iPhone is a great product, and works just the way you would expect it to. But it does have a drawback that tends to bug me. Unless the application is open, you don’t get alerted when you receive a message. I don’t know about you, but when I get a message I want to be notified instantly. With the iPhone it presents a problem because as of now you can only have one application open at a time.
9. Movies – The new Movies application allows you to search local theaters for show times, view movie details, and watch movie trailers. There isn’t much to complain about this app, it was designed well and pays close attention to detail. What’s amazing about it aside from the free price tag is that it was developed by a college sophomore who sold it to Flixter.
10. Calendar – Number ten on my list goes to the Calendar application. You’re probably thinking, “Wait doesn’t that come with the iphone?” The answer is yes, it does come with the iPhone, which is probably why it’s such a great application to begin with. I use this calendar every day to manage my schedule, after this app I simply refuse to go back to my old desktop schedule.
There you have it, my top ten iPhone applications that I can’t live without. For more information on any of the above mentioned apps or new iPhone applications visit Appcraver.com.

Make a fortune – Create Your own Android Applications – Its easy now!
Now you can create your own Android applications for the Smart Phones like Samsung, Nokia and so on.
Always dreamed of a specific Smart Phone application? Make it yourself, as well!
How-to do that is easier than ever….
July 12th 2010Google unveiled a developer tool that allows anyone who wants to create aplications for Smart cell phones using the Android operating system. You do not need to know the programming language Android developers usually use.
The application program for you, all you do is decide what you want the program to do. It reminds a bit to building with Lego, since the program create building blocks, block by block. Each block represents a snippet of a programming code, and the whole set of blocks together will eventually be able to run as an application on the Android Operating System based cell phones.
The beta version of Google App Inventor for Android was released July 12th 2010 along with a video showing people how easy it is to create applications with it. In the video a cat owner makes by a few mouse clicks a program that says mjau when people tap a photo of a cat.
- To use the App Inventor you do not need to be a software developer. App Inventor requires no programming knowledge, it states on their website.
Localization and automatic text messages
The Cat program is not particularly difficult to make for those who dare to try, you will probably spend more time on building a medium sized Lego boat after a recipe. The program is however not in itself especially advanced in functionality either – and perhaps not particularly useful. They who wants to will of course advance to create more advanced applications than cat pictures making a mjau.
Google has also posted on the web site a recipe on how to go about making the game called “Whack-a-Mole, where the goal is to hit the moles that continually pop up different places on the screen. Another specific recipe allows you to create a quiz application, you can challenge your friends with.
Among other suggestions of applications one can make, there are applications that leverage the GPS functionality for localizing – for example, a program used to mark where you parked your car, or programs that automatically respond to incoming text messages – for example, a program that says “Calling you later . “I am driving” in forefront of your drive.
The idea of programming with Lego-like building blocks derived from research done at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). The motive is really education, and search engine giant hopes enough so that the teachers will use it in their teaching.
Blocks for the most
Google has added building blocks for almost everything you can do with Android operating System.
This includs blocks to make programlike things, like blocks to store information, blocks to repeat actions and blocks to make certain actions under certain conditions. There are even blocks that can talk to services like Twitter.
Maybe you will initiate a program project during the summer months, then you must first fill out a form on their website. Google will continually give people access to the App Inventor during the coming weeks.
In the fall 2010, Google hopes to have ready an Android emulator, which allows you to test the program to create an ongoing basis on the computer screen instead of having to transfer it to your phone.
Best of luck, you might have the idea to the next blockbuster of application for the Smart Phones in the market today.
Try it for yourself – apply to be the next successful Android developer on GOOGLE web site
